i'm just curious if anybody knows.
firstly i don't take issue with the man making money from his books and if he was able to live comfortably from it then i say power to him.
but what i'm wanting to know was just how successful was it and did it allow him to live out the remainder of his years in comfort e.g buy a house, eat good food etc.

In my opinion the books more importantly for Ray than money gave self worth. ( In a way parallel to the sence of self worth he must have once felt being on the G.B) And of course a source of income from the publication of those books added a financial security.

Anyway the world today seems so divided, a few born privaliged yet so many refugees. And a world in which most people seem to value personal possessions of greater value than natural affection. I must admit it's difficult to understand why all this is so.
This is why I can see how my being a member of an organisation that claims to be no part of all this was appealing. However now I am no longer a witness, I realise how much more important the individual role is in a troubled world.

It had sounded to good to be true....and it wasn't. Having left the organisation I discover London to New York is only 6 hours away, Oh and as I enter the modern world I realise fax machines are as dated as my expensive out of date collection of Encyclopedias ....when you leave the witnesses, there is just so much to choose from...Its great.

recently i have just started looking into what buddhism is all about.
i rather like the idea of a personal spirituality.
of trying to be a better person and an acceptance of the reality of life and trying to find an inner peace and contentment.. anyway, i came across this today.

Sadly many buddists don't follow that advice and like the G.B many expect you to follow there version of buddisam.
I would definitely reccomend you examine the 6 noble truths, it's a great way to be at peace and content.

a vomit inducing comment.. i asked why do they have to specify 'meetings'?
they never miss us in tesco or the showcase cinema bar.. in their defence, a friend of mine said: 'that's because the meeting is where they normally would see you.'.
well, if they want to see you they can arrange a meal out or something.
Not only have I had the " we have missed you at the meetings" I have received a loving letter in the post, the contents of which did not ask, but assumied that I would meet with the elders at the K.H.
My advice is once you stop going to meetings stay away. Because if you do go back you put yourself on the elders radar, and a guaranteed invitation to a rather unpleasant meeting ( interogation) to discuss your faith in Jehovers organisation.
